Due to rising customer demands and market conditions, supply chains are looking for increased flexibility in their IT-based solutions. This growing need for flexibility is creating significant interest in cloud computing for its array of capabilities. From planning to sourcing, the cloud has the ability to save companies money while also reducing time spent on communicating on individual projects.

There are other risks to contemplate in addition to its security, and not all parts of a supply chain are best suited to be used in the cloud. Companies must weigh the potential benefits of cloud computing against its risks, but it is not an “if”, but a “when” it will be used.
