Companies hold an obscene amount of data, from addresses and phone numbers, to job titles and transfers. Most think that doing one good clean out of unused data will get rid of it, but this is not the case. Over time, data decays and takes up space making company transactions less and less successful.
What types of occurrences cause data decay? Anything changing within a company: employees leaving a company, employee title changes, and phone number and address changes. The main cause of data decay is mergers and acquisitions. If your company has any type of mergers or acquisitions happening, then there is a significant amount of data changing and this can lessen operational strength and speed needed to complete such a transaction.
