There was undoubtedly an audible sigh of relief when an agreement was reached between the United Postal Service and the Teamsters Union which saved over 250,000 jobs that were very much on the line. The 5-year deal which goes into effect on August 1st not only gives “substantial” pay increases, but also adds 2,000 full-time new jobs to current part-timers.
Despite previous reports which alleged talks between UPS and Teamsters were going very poorly and all signs pointed to not reaching a deal by the July deadline, the two did just that, and with months to spare.
