A recent survey of 335 senior executives, in five industries, including Aerospace and Defense, Automotive, Conglomerates, Engineering and Industrial Products, and Metals, found that global manufacturers are putting their supply chain in the center of their business strategy. KPMG’s fourth annual Global Manufacturing Outlook survey report found that only 49% had visibility in their supply chains beyond their Tier 1 suppliers.
Globally, only 9% have complete visibility of their supply chain, and in the United States that number is even lower. To create this visibility, companies are finding out ways to streamline their supply chain, but this goal can be in the very distant future for many because of strong OEM competition.
